Fluid system simulation
Using Flowmaster2/v6.2 from Flowmaster Group Bv, aerospace engineers designing fuel systems, environmental control systems, and hydraulic systems can capture and explore innovations earlier in the development process. Designed for Windows 98, NT, and 2000 desktop, the version provides greater flexibility for hydraulic system modeling via new electromechanical building-block components. Additionally, using the CADLinks toolkit, an aircraft system can be generated automatically from the CAD model. Relevant data can then be imported directly from the company's database into the correct Flowmaster2 components.
Operator control station
Horner Advanced Products Group's OCS300 operator control station series features a logic controller, operator interface, network, and I/O in one package. The series has color-touchscreen capability and a local I/O expansion system that allows up to 20 SmartStack I/O modules to be mounted remotely from the display. Plastic fiber-optic cables extend the system's high-speed I/O bus.
CAD template library
OH-Hyson Products' CAD Template Library version 2.0 CD contains gas-spring drawings to assist in die design. The CD includes drawings of the Tanker XP Series gas springs, T2 and T3 Series gas springs, Nitro-Dyne XP Series manifold cylinders, Dyne-A-Cam Series cams, LCF Force Manager Series gas springs, and hosed system components. All drawings come in DXF, DWG, and IGES formats.
Design solution
Cimatron E is a Windows CAD/CAM product from Cimatron Technologies that handles every stage of the design and manufacturing process. For design, it smoothly integrates tools to split part geometry, finds and implements engineering changes, creates electrodes and inserts, and details tooling components. During manufacturing, it implements 2.5- to 5-axis toolpaths using high-speed machining, knowledge of stock remaining, and templates to reduce programming and machining time.
CAD/CAM tool
BOBCAD-CAM's version 18.0 CAD/CAM software provides the ability to view multiple windows simultaneously for more powerful 3-D drawings, a user coordinate system, customizable dimensions, text along a curve, and long file names. Other enhancements include dynamic rotation, shifting, and zoom. Surface machining includes removal of undercut.
Data-acquisition software
DATAQ Instruments, Inc. has enhanced its WinDaq/XL data-acquisition software that enables information to be acquired and viewed from within Microsoft's Excel in real time or played back later. The throughput to Excel is increased to as much as 5000 Samples/s, depending upon computer processing speed.
