LCD display
CyberResearch's N4W 1540 industrial PC workstations feature bright, 15-in. TFT LCD displays and sturdy NEMA 4/12 steel chassis. Sealed aluminum front panels and membrane keyboards are suitable for industrial environments. The 200-nit (200 cd/m2) active-matrix displays contain 64,000 colors with a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
CAPP/shop floor systems
HMS Software is installing its computer-aided process planning and shop floor systems to manage manufacturing information systems for Lockheed Martin aircraft production. When the process is complete, the Joint Strike Fighter, F-22, F-16, and F-2 programs will use a combination of Second Generation HMS-CAPP, HMS Shop Floor Management, and HMS Manufacturing Engineering Change Management for manufacturing planning and execution. The implementation also includes the development of legacy system interfaces and enhancement of tooling capabilities and other core functionalities.
Internet accessible software
An Internet-based service from Cetrus, Inc. offers hosted software applications to the engineering and design community and later plans to add distance learning programs, technical content, and peer-to-peer exchange. Initially, the software will be focused on civil engineering, with many applications available on a pay-per-use basis.
Thermal models
Thermal models of IC packages and parts can be generated using Flomerics' Flopack Version 2.2 Web-based thermal model generator. Designed for use with the firm's Flotherm thermal management software, the package features new Delphi compact models for plastic quad flat pack and plastic leaded chip carrier package families, support for multiple heat sources on a die, and SmartPart Wizards for ChipArray fine-pitch plastic-ball grid array and leadless leadframe package families.
Tooling software
Iscar Metals and Tools4CAM are joining to provide technical support for SolidCAM2000, which has algorithms that automatically create an optimized plunging toolpath for Iscar's bidirectional Cut-Grip groove and turn tools. The tools are for internal, external, and face grooving; turning; and profiling. They can be used to cut in either direction or in a continuous sequence with no downtime.
