A new way of illuminating flight deck displays and keyboards has been developed by IDD Aerospace Corp. (www.iddaerospace.com) Based on the latest development in single-chip white LEDs, this is a direct replacement for incandescent Aviation White or Blue White illumination. Color performance that replicates standard incandescent lighting has been achieved. Performance ranges from 1900° to 6800 °C for comparable dimming characteristics. Unlike incandescent lighting, LED illumination provides maximum life, low power consumption, and cool touch temperatures.
