The Michelin AIR X is a tire with radial casing designed to be fitted to the Mirage III. This radial tire features three sets of components: one or several radial carcass plies wound around a large-diameter steel bead; a belt ply; and a metal protector ply under the tread. Its architecture provides it with special qualities such as lower operating temperatures, substantial weight savings, and longer treadwear. According to the company, this radial tire increases the number of landings by a minimum of 50%. They are designed for commercial, regional, corporate, as well as military aviation. With a higher cooling capacity, they are particularly suitable for military applications because they are capable of short turnaround between landing and take-off.
