Because the system is based on Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95 operating systems, airlines can select from the software programs available for these platforms. The system offers access-on-demand to high-quality, digitized audio and video programs for more than 500 seats on an aircraft simultaneously. The high-speed ATM network offers feature films and music videos as well as information services such as shopping, travel information, and local currency rates. In addition, it provides airlines with the ability to capture passenger usage statistics and demographic information.
