Strain sensor measures uniaxial plane strain

The Shock and Vibration Sensors Division of PCB Piezotronics Inc. (www.pcb.com) has introduced the Model 740A02 dynamic strain sensor for active vibration control, noise-path analysis, modal testing, and for use on aircraft, composite materials, "smart" structures, and vibrating machinery. It is capable of measuring small strain differences in those due to large static loads as well as detecting wave propagation for material velocity characterization. The sensor features a sensitivity of 50 mV/µE and an amplitude of ±100 µE peak.
