Sermatech Technical Services (www.sermatech.com) has introduced SermeTel Process 2000, a family of chrome-free and environmentally friendly protective coating systems for application to power generation, industrial, and flight turbomachinery components. The multilayer coating systems are designed to protect all ferrous alloys, in addition to nickel and titanium alloys, against corrosion, erosion, and fouling, while providing an improved aerodynamic finish. The system consists of an aluminum-filled ceramic basecoat that redirects corrosion by sacrificing itself to protect the component, and a chemically inert, glassy ceramic topcoat that produces a smooth, sealed finish to resist further corrosion and fouling.
