E-A-R Specialty Composites (www.earsc.com) has developed a family of aircraft skin damping composites that meet the most stringent FAR burn test requirements. The materials provide lightweight, high damping performance on fuselage skin, bulkheads, and thin composite panels for all types of aircraft. The skin damping composites combine the company's damping sheets and foams with an aluminum constraining layer and pressure-sensitive adhesive. Several different formulations are available, each tuned to specific temperature and damping performance requirements.
