Fastener repair
Huck Fasteners' Universal Repair Kit consolidates the tools needed for every blind bolt, blind rivet, and "MAX" type fastener used on most aircraft. The 14-piece kit includes a production-grade Huck 244 pneudraulic tool and an assortment of interchangeable nose assemblies. It also contains accessories including a pintail collection bag, MAX nose assembly adapter, and grip gauge.
Wiring analyzer
The RWA 1500 wiring analyzer from Cabletest Systems Inc. can withstand harsh environments requiring shock resistance and weatherproof properties. The operator simply needs to open the case and switch on the power, and the system is ready to test. The portable device integrates 256 high-voltage test and measurement points and weighs 50 lb.
Embedded computing
Dy 4 Systems' PowerPC 7410-based SBC, known as the SVME/DMV-181 Sentinel, is geared for embedded computing applications. It features 500-MHz operation, 1 Gbyte of main memory with ECC for high integrity, 2 Mbytes of L2 cache, six serial ports, and two USB ports. It supports two independent 10/100 Mbit Ethernet ports for redundancy and survivability in a networked system. The TherMax thermal management system provides optimal support of conduction cooling.
Data acquisition
The Compact Data Acquisition (C-DAQ) System from Gould Instrument Systems synchronizes CAN Bus data frames, GPS position/time, and 96 channels of analog inputs in a ruggedized system about the size of a coffee mug. The device can be used to add an unlimited number of 16-channel thermocouple modules to acquire hundreds of channels of temperature data in addition to the 96 analog inputs and GPS data. It uses Compact Flash for removable mass storage.
Lighted pushbutton switch
The Vivisun LED lighted pushbutton switch from Aerospace Optics Inc. features solid-state circuitry and innovative electronics that solve reliability, sunlight and night-vision readability, power consumption, and other concerns. Offered in nine colors, the switch provides voltage-controlled dimming without pulse-width modulation, operates from existing cockpit power sources, and can directly replace existing incandescent switches.
Stackable chip scale package
A technology from DPAC Technologies Corp. allows mechanical stacking of chip-scale package memory devices using a fine pitch ball grid array interface. It provides significant reduction in the size of component packaging when compared to thin small outline package style memory devices.
Fire shut-off switch
Janco Corp.'s engine/APU fire shut-off switch incorporates two of the company's rotary switching mechanisms: a seven-pole, double-throw miniature rotary selector switch for linear actuation, and a two- or three-pole double-throw rotary power switch for rotary actuation. A solenoid-operated safety release feature is accessible via a manual override button.
Radiation-tolerant SRAM
The 33C408RP from Space Electronics is a high-density 4-Mbit SRAM microcircuit that is designed to operate in the harsh radiation environment of space. The device features a typical 100-krad (Si) total dose tolerance, depending on orbit. It is suitable for satellite, spacecraft, and space missions.
