Top connector accelerometers

Columbia Research Laboratories' 7000 Series miniature size, top connector accelerometers are shear mode and low profile using a conventional 10-32 coaxial connector and cable assembly. The accelerometers offer a charge sensitivity of 3 PC/G and a frequency response to 6 KHz. Available in either adhesive-mount or fixed-stud, the accelerometers weigh from 2.5 to 4.0 g and measure 0.175 to 0.250 in. high.

Helicopter traffic advisory system

BFGoodrich's SKYWATCH is an active surveillance traffic advisory system that operates as an air-to-air or ground-to-air interrogation device. The system enhances situational awareness for military, offshore oil, and general aviation helicopter pilots and is particularly well suited for helicopter platforms due to its performance at low altitudes and over all types of terrain. It generates both aural and visual warnings of intruding aircraft that may pose a collision threat and is capable of tracking up to 30 nearby aircraft simultaneously, displaying the eight most threatening.

Torsion tester

Instron Corp.'s 55MT MicroTorsion Series is designed to provide torsion testing for materials and parts that must withstand constant twisting and wrenching such as fasteners, wire, electronic assemblies, and biomaterials. The series, offered in 220-N•m and 20-N•m designs, can be used to simulate a variety of real-world applications in which torsional stresses are prevalent. The device is used to test, among other things, fasteners in the aerospace industry. Featuring a rigid, tabletop-mounted load frame, the design requires minimal lab space.

Hydroforming press

Designed to embrace both tube and sheet hydroforming applications, Interlaken Technology Corp.'s Hydroforming Press is a computer-controlled hydraulic press with data acquisition that uses a high-pressure liquid to hydroform materials. It is equipped with the company's UniPress Control System for reliable and precise control over the hydroforming process. Windows-compatible interface software enables users to build motion and force profiles designed to fit specific forming needs. Hydroformed parts are stronger and weigh less, and the hydroforming process can reduce material and manufacturing costs.

Teflon cable wrap

Heli-Tube Spirally Cut Teflon Cable Wrap, manufactured by M.M. Newman Corp., is designed for bundling and protecting cables and hoses from damage that can be caused by sparks, flames, and abrasion. Available in sizes from 1/16 to 1 1/2 in. outside diameter, this nonflammable cable wrap and abrasion protector can be applied without tools onto bundles up to 10 in. diameter. Well suited for aviation, marine, mass transit, and RV applications, the cable wrap is UL-recognized and meets a variety of military and ASTM specifications. It is chemically inert and operates from -450 to +500°F.

Electron backscatter diffraction

INCACrystal performs fast and simple electron backscatter diffraction on the INCA microanalysis platform from Oxford Instruments Analytical. EBSD is widely used by materials scientists and metallurgists to examine the texture of materials in the aircraft and automotive industries and provides materials scientists with direct measurements of local orientation that can be correlated with material properties. INCACrystal greatly enhances EBSD by providing a fast and easy-to-use system in which orientation maps are acquired at a speed of 45,000 pixels/h. It also features online help and a navigator system.

Integrated piston catalog

Parker Hannifin's Integrated Piston, a device that combines pistons, bearings, and seals into a self-contained package for low-, medium-, and high-pressure hydraulic cylinder applications, is fully described in a 12-page catalog. Integrated Piston Assembly for Hydraulic Cylinders, published by Parker's Seal Group, contains detailed information on seal material choices, test data, and recommended pressure and temperature limits. A convenient, easy-to-reference table illustrates PSP, BP, OK, and other sealing profiles available for use in the integrated piston assembly.
