Fiberoptic refractometer

MISCO's digital fiberoptic refractometer for measurement of aircraft deicing and anti-icing fluids reads directly in freeze point of glycol-based fluids. In addition, Brix and/or Refractive Index readings can be taken. The device, which has a durable Valox plastic body, is automatically calibrated using water and is designed for immediate use without the need for adjust settings or turning screws.

Explosion-suppressant foam

Crest Foam Industries Inc.'s SafeCrest explosion-suppressant foam is highlighted in a new videotape/CD-ROM and technical brochure. A reticulated polyurethane material, SafeCrest is designed to prevent explosion of ignited fuel vapors caused by electrical arcing, overheating of internal components, lightning strikes, static electrical discharge, or arms fire. The product also helps mitigate fuel spray in the event of fuel-tank rupture and baffles fuel to control surging and eliminate sloshing. It is manufactured in block form. The U.S. Navy has specified a 14-year service life for SafeCrest, with an anticipated service life of 20 years.

Snap-lock connector

Delphi Connection Systems' single-channel Snap-Lock connector for optical fiber systems is designed to withstand severe vibration and shock environments. The small size and high performance of the rugged device make it suitable for high-density satellite and aircraft applications. The connector features a self-aligning termini for reduced initial cost, maintenance, and increased reliability.

Milling material

Valenite's SM327 milling grade combines an impact-resistant substrate with alternating ultra-thin multilayer coatings of titanium nitride, titanium carbonitride, and aluminum oxide. These coatings are resistant to wear and cratering, producing a well-balanced, high-speed cutting insert for both roughing and finishing. The insert's smooth surface reduces friction, lowering the power requirement and increasing tool life.

Compact circuit breaker

E-T-A Circuit Breakers' compact, high-performance 4120 circuit breaker for equipment is approved for mil-spec MIL-C-5809 MS3320. Available in current ratings from 1 to 25 A, this unit is suited for extra-low-voltage wiring systems on all types of land vehicles and aircraft. The 4120 offers high resistance to physical shock and random vibrations.

Cabin pressure alerter

An off-the-shelf altitude alerter from Innovative Solutions & Support is fully RVSM-compliant and has been field-proven on all aircraft that require cabin pressurization. The unit issues three different warnings when sensing that cabin altitude is at or above 10,000 ft. It flashes cabin altitude on its LCD, initiates a caution light located within its integral pushbutton, and triggers audio alerts in the form of a warning message within the pilots' headsets as well as a Sonalert horn. Cabin altitude flashes until the altitude alerter's pushbutton is pressed or sensed cabin altitude reaches 9500 ft.

USB interfaces

The BUSBox from Ballard Technology is a family of portable, self-contained interfaces linking avionics databuses to the Universal Serial Bus. Any computer with a USB or a standard RS-232C serial port can communicate with a variety of avionics databuses. The portable units need no internal PC card slot and are easy to install, share, and move.

Databus products

Tyco Electronics offers a single-source supply of MIL-STD-1553B databus networks with its Raychem components and ready-assembled harnesses. The company features a range of interconnecting hardware for MIL-STD-1553B multiplexing requirementsÑeither as components or as ready-assembled harnesses in accordance with customer drawings. The components are rated to +150°C.
