The BFG LandMark Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS) from BFGoodrich Aerospace provides a continuous view of terrain surrounding an aircraft's position. It offers predictive audible and visual warnings when potential controlled-flight-into-terrain (CFIT) situations arise. The system provides forward-looking terrain awareness and indicates imminent contact with the ground for excessive rates of descent, negative climb rate of altitude loss after takeoff, a voice callout when the aircraft descends to 500 ft above the nearest runway, premature descent alert, and display of obstacles and runways (>2000 feet).
