PCB connector

The CBBJR159 from Trompeter is a subminiature bulkhead-mount circuit board jack that transfers stress away from the PC board. This time division command/response multiplex data bus connector is suitable for twinax or triax applications such as VME, Mil-1553, and space and aircraft instrumentation.

Self-locking fasteners

SPS Technologies' Tru-Flex all-metal, prevailing-torque, self-locking bolts and screws are described in a brochure. Text and graphics highlight the locking action achieved by the fasteners' unique thread configuration. The fastener can be applied to most headed fasteners where self-locking is required.

Foil strain sensor

Columbia Research Laboratories' Model DTD 3625 miniature foil-strain sensors meet the need to measure fatigue load experienced by aircraft under various conditions of speed, weight, and mission. The self-temperature compensating devices measure only 0.45 x 0.25 x 0.14 in.

High-speed video

A high-speed, high-resolution video camera from MCT is used to solve difficult motion-analysis applications. The Photron Fastcam-Ultima 1024 with advanced CMOS technology assures 1024 x 1024 pixel resolution at a rate of 500 frames per second. Image capture is up to 16,000 images per second. Individual frames can be frozen.

Scanning technology

Three Contura CMMs from the Carl Zeiss IMT Corp. increase mid-market access to true scanning technology. The firm reduced the price of its standard Contura CMM, introduced a higher-accuracy high-temperature gradient system, and added the DynaTouch probe for single point measurements.

High-temperature lubricants

Krytox XHT from DuPont Performance Lubricants is a blend of low-volatility oils and additives and thickeners that increase adhesion to protect bearing surfaces that are subjected to high heat conditions. The greases are available with useful temperature ranges up to 399°C for continuous use, with temperature spikes at 427°C when used with proper metallurgy and relubrication intervals.

Tri-axial accelerometer

A new piezoelectric crystal composition allows a line of tri-axial accelerometers from Columbia Research Laboratories, Inc. to provide simultaneous measurement of acceleration in three mutually perpendicular axes. They also feature detachable low-noise cable assemblies. The microminiature 600-TX Series was developed for aerospace, laboratory, military, industrial, and other applications where space is critical, accessibility difficult, or minimum size or weight required to prevent loading of the test specified.

Motorized comparator

The Focus contour projector from Optical Gaging Products, Inc. is a low-cost comparator that features true telecentric optics and an underscreen Fresnel lens for high precision. The corrected image provides flat-field contrast and sharp images to the edge of its full 355-mm (14-in.) viewing area. An adjustable direct projection collimator concentrates light for the brightest images at all magnifications. A three-position manual lens turret with automatic magnification sensing is standard on all Focus models, with projection lenses from 10 to 50X available.
