Airborne accelerometer

The Columbia Model SA-102MFTA and its compact tri-axial version SA-302MFTA are precision, miniature force-balance accelerometers designed to operate from +24 to +32 V dc aircraft power. The high-level output signal and inherent self-regulation qualities of the servo loop design make the accelerometer suitable for airborne telemetry applications, and the output signal format is compatible with most signal processing systems.

Cabin filters

Donaldson Co.'s HEPA cabin air recirculation filters for MD-80 and other Boeing aircraft have tested 99.997% effective in filtering hydraulic mist and spray from air streams. In addition to aerosol particulate filtration, the firm manufactures activated carbon filters for cabin air recirculation systems. These filters adsorb gas phase chemical contaminants, including components of hydraulic fluid.

Protocol converters

AMETEK Aerospace's CONNECTIX Series protocol converters provide an economical means for connecting avionics units that use different digital data standards, avoiding the redesign and replacement of equipment sets. The converters are a flexible solution for bridging data between MIL-STD-1553B and ARINC 429 systems. Installed between such systems, the converter examines bus traffic, extracts desired data, and outputs it to the 429 bus using standard or custom 429 labels. This approach allows the transfer of data with no software changes required to existing military or commercial equipment.

Piezoelectric accelerometers

Endevco's Model 7251HT-10 and -100 are miniature piezoelectric accelerometers with integral electronics that measure vibration on most structures at temperatures continuously up to 150°C. The low-profile units are hermetically sealed against environmental contamination and offer high output sensitivity and wide bandwidth. Dynamic range is 500 g for the -10 model and 50 g for the -100 model, while voltage output sensitivity is 10 mV/g for the -10 model and 100 mV/g for the -100 model.

Cast cylinders

Superior Air Parts' Millennium Generation II investment cast cylinders offer improved 3-D port contour to increase volumetric efficiency; enhanced injector boss filets, spark plug bosses, and exhaust port areas; refined outside head fin root contours; reamed value guides for extended guide life; and an improved cylinder barrel honing process. The Superior Millennium investment cast cylinders carry a 30-month parts and labor warranty; a 15-month warranty on parts and labor is offered on Millennium standard cast cylinders.

Turbine drilling

The Current CNC EdmDrill Model CT500-5A is designed for turbine applications that require drilling deep, angled cooling holes. The unit delivers precise, burr-free drilling required in advanced turbine designs. Unique x and y axes movement provides machining flexibility. The unit uses electrodes from 0.004 to 0.256 in, and the optional 24-station Automatic Electrode Changer increases production capabilities. Rigid bed construction handles parts to 20 lb.

Transformers and transceivers

Pulse Specialty Components' 1.250 Gb/s and 1.485 Gb/s Copperhead transformers are used for point-to-point coupling, while the Copperhead transceiver modules are used for buffered short- and long-haul applications. Copperhead products meet military standards and are used in a variety of satellites, unmanned airborne vehicles, tactical ground communications systems, and military aircraft. Applications include high-speed video transmission, fibre channel over copper, Gigabit Ethernet, and high-definition television signal transmission.

Digital oscilloscope

The DL1600 digital oscilloscope from Yokogawa Corp. of America is a four-channel scope with 200-MHz bandwidth, 200M sample/s maximum sampling rate, and an acquisition memory up to 32M word/channel. The portable scope has a mass less than 11 lb, making it easy to remotely control the instrument and transfer data. It can be controlled from any network connection using the built-in Web server and 100 Base-T Ethernet connector, or with a direct connection to a PC via USB, RS-232, or GP-IB. The DL1600 offers three types of removable mediaÑfloppy disk, ZIP disk, or Type II PCMCIA card.
