Ultrasonic inspection equipment
Quality Material Inspection, Inc.'s AIRSCAN, a unique, air-coupled ultrasonic
inspection method, eliminates contamination of sensitive materials during testing.
Custom, automated scan systems incorporate the latest state-of-the-art data-acquisition
and imaging instrumentation as well as ultrasonic pulsers and receivers. Designed
for through-transmission and one-side plate wave techniques, the instrument
offers similar resolution and sensitivity as conventional water-jet techniques.
Nuclear-event detectors
Space
Electronics, Inc.'s HSN-500, HSN-1000, and HSN-2000 nuclear-event detectors
are radiation-hardened devices that rapidly detect the onset of ionizing radiation
in space and military applications and provide a signal to initiate protection
of critical electronics against ionizing-dose-rate-induced upset and burnout.
As a result, the detectors protect an electronic system's memory, stop data
processing, and drive power supply crowbars and signal clamps. The devices,
used to sense ionizing radiation pulses generated by a nuclear event, are fully
compliant Class H devices.
Multilayer ceramic capacitors
Sierra-KD
Components has introduced a line of space-quality, high-voltage, multilayer
ceramic capacitors and low equivalent series resistance and inductance stacked
ceramic capacitors. The line of high-voltage capacitors, which is based on a
spec-ification similar to NASA's Spec SSQ 21113, is constructed from a high-density,
low-loss X7R ceramic dielectric that is 100% Corona tested and exhibits no IR
degradation over its design life. Both lines of capacitors are available in
different sizes and are well suited for nonreparable applications such as those
found in the spacecraft and satellite markets.
Compact recorder
TEAC
America, Inc.'s solid-state mission data recorders, designed for use in military
and aerospace markets, deliver significant benefits for airborne flight-testing
or data recording for tactical weapons pods such as LANTIRN and TARPS. While
the typical tape transport and electronic interface box weighs up to 60 lb,
this unit weighs less than 9 lb, measures only 8.7 x 6.0 x 3.75 in, and consumes
less than 50 W. Designed as a source. It connects a 12.5-ft torch to either
a 38- or 88-ft extension of heavy-gauge welding cable and gas hose. A durable
rubber boot protects all connections for safety.
Videoscope for small engines
The
IV5C6 5-mm diameter videoscope, manufactured by Olympus America
Inc. Industrial Products Group, transmits bright, clear, full-screen video images
of small engine turbine blades, vanes, compressors, and other components that
cannot be accessed by larger diameter scopes. It is compatible with all kitted
guide tubes for each engine variant.
