Blade repair process
-
TTL blade repair process involves machining off the excess weld from repaired compressor and turbine blades. When introduced in June 1999, the system could machine off excess weld to a degree that it would leave a step of no more than 0.002 in for hand finishing. Subsequent development has resulted in a dramatic improvement in accuracy and surface finish. The system requires no CAD model, allowing for fast cycle times.
