Sprayable cork insulation

Convergent Spray Technologies, an innovative zero VOC, sprayable cork coating system developed by AST Inc., a division of United Technologies, is being used by the major aerospace companies and NASA to spray a thermally protective cork coating called USI. The sprayable cork replaces labor intensive hand-applied cork bonding procedures. Robotically controlled, the process allows two people to coat large or small acreage areas with the touch of a mouse button on a personal computer. The company has installed convergent spray automation systems at NASA for the Solid Rocket Booster program, Boeing Sea Launch, U.S. Air Force Titan and Boeing Delta IV launch vehicle programs.
