Aircraft battery for better ultra-low-temperature performance

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Electrochemistry and Thermal Sciences Branch, has evaluated numerous aircraft battery designs and chemistries since the 1960s. Designs have emphasized low weight, small volume, and maximum performance at minimal costs over a temperature range of -40 to +60oC. Since the mid-1990s, the temperature range has increased on new aircraft.
