New drive from DDC
-
A new three-phase brushless motor drive module suitable for aerospace applications is being produced by DDC. It is for use with 270-V brushless dc motors in servo current and torque loop control systems. The PW-82351 provides the interface between the power stage and the control electronics, and can be used with either analog or digital servo control systems.
DDC regards the 50-A system as particularly applicable to aerospace uses, including those found in primary/secondary flight-control trim surfaces, hydraulic pumps, fan motors, and thrust vector control systems. The drive has six, dual- function, logic control inputs, which allow the user to select external or internal control for the switching of the output transistors. All logic control inputs have built-in noise filtering. DDC regards a significant feature of the PW-82351 as a ground isolation barrier, which separates the power and control stages. This attenuates ground noise generated from high speed, high power switching and allows the PW-82351 to operate from unipolar or bipolar power supplies. The barrier maintains electrical isolation between the control-side ground and power-side return.
