Trent produces added thrust

The technology-proving Rolls-Royce Trent 8104 engine has exceeded 110,000 lb of thrust during initial test runs. The technology includes a new "swept" fan blade that passes a greater airflow and delivers and enhances fuel efficiency. It also has added strength for greater resistance to birdstrike and runway debris. Rolls used 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) design techniques for the intermediate and high-pressure compressors. The Trent 8104 in production form provides 104,000 lb of thrust.
