Clearing the air at Paris

There is nothing like an international air show to demonstrate just how noisy modern jet engines can be, and this year's Paris Air Show was no exception. It is true that the noise and emissions levels of today's engines show significant improvement over the figures of even a few years ago, but the necessity for further major advances is realized by all aero engine manufacturers.
