Technology update
Ice protection research
-
Dunlop Aviation Ice Protection & Composites (DAIPC) and Cranfield University in the UK plan joint development of an icing wind tunnel. It will be used for certification and research into aircraft ice protection systems and will be located on the university campus. The tunnel is also expected to be used for research into novel methods of ice protection — particularly low-energy systems. The tunnel will meet current FAR and JAR standards plus additional requirements including DEF Standard 970.
