Technology update
Airbus, CATIA, and ENOVIA

Airbus Industrie has signed a memorandum of agreement with IBM and Dassault Systemes for the purchase of 2500 seats of CATIA and ENOVIA product lifecycle management solutions over a seven-year period. Among other projects, they will be applied to the design, development, and manufacture of the new A3XX airliner and the A400M military transport. IBM says that in creating the A3XX, Airbus engineers will use the combined e-business capabilities of CATIA and ENOVIA Solutions to develop the aircraft entirely digitally. CATIA supports digital product definition and simulation while ENOVIA is described as delivering enterprise solutions that manage a comprehensive, collaborative, and distributed model of the digital product, processes, and resources.
