MHI delivers its first helicopter
-
Excel Air Service Inc. has taken delivery of its first Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' MH2000 helicopter. According to MHI, the MH2000 is Japan's first indigenous helicopter, which has already obtained TA-class-type certification from the Ministry of Transportation. The helicopter, solely developed and manufactured by MHI, accommodates eight passengers and two crew members and reaches a maximum speed of 280 km/h, with a maximum range of 780 km at a cruising speed of 250 km/h.
Two MG5-110 turboshaft engines power the MH2000, each providing 876 shp of maximum takeoff power. The engine, developed specifically for the MH2000, features FADEC (Full Authority Digital Electronic Control system) controls with dual engine modes - high-speed and low-noise. With the combined advantage of these two engine modes and a low-noise rotor, there has been a significant reduction in both the helicopter's interior and exterior noise.
Passenger comfort is enhanced through the arrangement of the rotor drivetrain and gearbox. These are positioned away from the cabin area, providing minimal inner noise while increasing cabin space.
