CAD software integration
Factory modeling and optimization tools

The Tecnomatix Digital Factory is an integrated, computerized environment for designing, simulating, and optimizing a complete factory, its production lines and processes, in all levels of detail. It comprises a set of dedicated applications based on state-of-the-art technologies in kinematics, simulation, database, graphics, and integration. These interoperable applications are linked by a process database and provide a comprehensive closed-loop solution throughout the process chain.

CAD integration enables direct access to data residing in any number of CAD systems. This unique 'live link' to the master models eliminates translation and maintenance of duplicate data and ensures that product model changes are immediately reflected in the digital factory.

The Tecnomatix Digital Factory contains an integrated database architecture that links various applications to provide a comprehensive 'closed loop' solution throughout the process chain.

Interoperability among different engineering applications is made possible through process integration. A database stores all associated process data, including assembly operation sequences, resources and process parameters in a digital object-oriented format. Integrated into the PDM system and giving read/write permission to all the applications, the Digital Factory database supports all engineering activities from design to production.

Shop floor integration enables the generation of machine-readable programs for a variety of controllers, PLCs, and machinery. It ensures interoperability and accurate simulation of equipment and tooling operations.

For design, simulation, optimization, and offline programming of automated and manual manufacturing systems, Tecnomatix offers ROBCAD. This engineering tool allows users to create an on-screen virtual manufacturing environment that graphically displays and simulates actual manufacturing operations. Integration with multiple CAD systems allows access to master product data from different systems while designing manufacturing processes.

VALISYS is a quality-engineering tool used for definition, measurement, and analysis of manufacturing tolerances throughout the industrial process. It allows engineers to define and verify manufacturing tolerances against international design standards, perform assembly stack-up analysis, create offline inspection programs, measure components on a CMM or NC machine, analyze inspection data against design specifications, and reverse engineer existing tooling or fixtures.

A machining tool called PART is offered by Tecnomatix for generating the machining process plan for full production lines and the associated toolpaths required to machine a single or multiple parts. This software automatically recognizes manufacturing features out of solid models. The software recommends setups and selects the best machines and cutting tools based on standard or specific customer tool libraries and machines. It optimizes machining operations, and produces complete NC toolpaths and reports based on standard manufacturing practices or on specific customer preferences.

For dynamic studies of product packaging, assembly process planning, and maintenance procedures, the company offers DYNAMO digital mockup software. It enables engineers to verify the manufacturing feasibility of a new product and to study various scenarios of assembly/disassembly processes. By seamlessly integrating it with major CAD systems, DYNAMO allows a user to review the current status of projects, catch design errors, and anticipate manufacturing process constraints before the product leaves the design room.

SIMPLE++ completes the company's integrated database architecture and is used for design, simulation, and optimization of manufacturing plants, production systems, and processes. The software enables engineers to model and analyze different levels of production including a network of plants, individual plants, lines, and cells. It assists engineers in developing and optimizing system and process alternatives, taking into account workers, machines, buffers, transportation systems, tools, material, and costs.
