Microchip aims at motor control

Automakers are making increased use of small motors for a growing number of jobs, fueling a market for controller chips. Microchip Technology Inc. has developed a line of 8-bit microcontrollers that have functions needed in motor control applications, providing an inexpensive way to improve performance of the electric motors.
