Bosch expands brake offerings with electronics

Electronic brake control systems have been making cars safer for the past 25 years. As one of the leading producers of brakes and brake control systems, Robert Bosch GmbH has played a role in many innovations. These include the first electronically controlled antilock braking system (ABS) in 1978, the traction control system (TCS) in 1987, and mass production of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) in 1995. The company also helped Mercedes-Benz develop the most technologically advanced system in production—the electrohydraulic brake (EHB) also known as Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC).
