Global Concepts (Part 1)
Bertone Bella
-
Bertone's dramatically styled coupe, called Bella, is based on the Alfa 166 sedan. Bertone claims that market research in Europe and the U.S. shows that the rear seats, ostensibly for children, are almost always used for luggage, with passengers occupying them only 3% of the time. So Bertone designed the Bella's load area to take all luggage-or luggage plus two seats. To increase luggage space, the backrests and squabs of the rear seats are folded. The all-luggage
solution makes it possible to stow a wide range of different objects including skis, various types of boards, bicycles, etc. Bertone describes the exterior design of the Bella concept as "an almost monolith structure." The windshield is integrated with the side windows to form an aircraft cockpit impression. The side windows taper down rapidly to the trailing edge of the doors.
