Citroen C6
-
The C6 Lignage was designed by Citroen's Creative Styling Center to provide a glimpse of the company's intention for a large vehicle having exceptional comfort for four people traveling long distances. Emphasis was placed on seat comfort and in-car entertainment features, as well as ride comfort, handling, and road holding. The C6 has a long front and short rear overhangs, a characteristic of previous large Citroens such as the DS and the later CX. Aerodynamic efficiency was a priority, so Citroen uses mini-cameras instead of exterior mirrors. The radiator grille has adjustable fins managed according to vehicle speed. Michelin PAX vertically anchored tires are fitted. The fine details of likely technology for the C6 (and the company's next large production vehicle) include direct-injection gasoline and diesel engines; a sequentially controlled gearbox; extensive use of hydraulics for suspension systems allied to sophisticated computer control; head-up display; intelligent speed regulator with a system of obstacle detection; park brake automatic management; headlamps with swiveling lenses (like the Citroen DS series of the 1960s) and variable focus; infrared viewing for night driving; driver alertness and fatigue protection; voice recognition command for non-safety-critical functions; adaptive seats with massage and air conditioning functions; and traffic-situation-linked navigation system.
