Global Concepts (Part 1)
Nissan XVL

The XVL is a four-door sedan built on Nissan's new FR-L (front-engine, rear-drive, large car) platform. It is powered by the VQ30DD gasoline direct-injection 3.0-L V6 with four cams and 24 valves, mated to the new Extroid toroidal CVT. The engine's center is placed well aft of the front-wheel axis in a smaller area within the engine compartment. The wall of this compartment acts as a body stabilizer, according to a senior development engineer, endowing the car with good road manners. The car's aerodynamics are said to be so good that the body generates no adverse lift at very high velocities while obtaining a commendable 0.28 Cd. The interior is roomier than the current Infiniti Q45.
