Hummer H2
-
The HUMMER H2 displayed by General Motors at the 2000 NAIAS takes its styling cues from the HUMMER production vehicle but uses fewer exposed rivets and fasteners. Its windshield is raked more and loses its metal center divider. The hood has thermostat-controlled articulating louvers for ventilation. A power-operated canvas sunroof lets the sun shine on both rows of the five-passenger compartment. GM developed an all-new rear suspension to improve off- and on-road behavior. Both front and rear suspensions use independent double wishbones with unequal-length A-arms, torsion bars, stabilizer bars, and long-travel, dual-rate coil over shocks with remote reservoirs. Powering is provided by a GM 6.0-L Vortec V8 mounted longitudinally and mated to a heavy-duty four-speed automatic transmission with Autotrac four-wheel drive. The H2's Central Information Center features controls for GPS navigation, OnStar, DVD video, CD player, and a Monsoon audio system. There is also night vision from Raytheon, Internet access for e-mail, a laptop docking station, and a cell-phone docking station-all with hands-free operational capabilities.
