Global Concepts (Part 2)
Mercedes-Benz Vision SLA

Just 3770 mm (148 in) long and fitted with technology from the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the Vision SLA two-seater roadster's most prominent feature is an arrow-shaped front wing section housing xenon projection headlamps for low and high beams. Turn signals using high-performance LEDs are integrated into the outer transparent ends of the wing. Interior highlights include two chronometer-like cockpit instruments, matte aluminum elements, and transparent perforated metal structures. Under the hood is a high-torque 1.9-L engine from the A190 producing 92 kW (125 hp) and providing an overall fuel consumption of 7.1 L/100 km (33 mpg) (NEDC). The front and rear axles also come from the A-Class. The load-bearing parts of the body are manufactured from aluminum while the outer bodyshell is largely plastic, resulting in total vehicle mass of only 950 kg (2090 lb). The oblique positioning of the drive unit ensures that (as with the A-Class) it slides below the vehicle in a head-on collision.
