Global Concepts
Citroen C3
-
Citroen's C3 provided a glimpse of a possible car for MY 2001 or 2002. The supermini concept is a small multipurpose vehicle with interior modularity. Measuring 1620 mm (64 in.) high and 1730 mm (68 in.) wide, it is only 3670 mm (144 in.) long. The car has four doors but no central pillar; the rear doors open backwards. The rear hatch opens in what Citroen terms "portfolio" style (the lower half sliding under the top half), making trunk access easier in confined spaces. A sunroof extends to the rear of the car and comprises glass strips. Power comes from a 1.6-L, 65 kW (87 hp) gasoline engine. The tires use a vertically anchored Michelin PAV system.
The interior includes rails that allow the seats to be positioned "anywhere in the vehicle." There is even a "lounge" configuration because the seatback and cushion are interchangeable; the backrest can be lowered to become a seat. All the seats are height-adjustable. Interior storage ideas are interesting: a removable bin in the form of a handbag is attached to the armrest, and there is a door-mounted umbrella housing. The rear doors are fitted with a net. The dashboard has a large lidded bin on each side of the central console.
