Global Development: Part II Europe
Eastern & Central Europe
-
The demand for new cars in Eastern and Central Europe has been on the decline, and many supplier companies in this region have closed their doors or have been acquired by Western or Asian companies. The region's economies are recovering, but not all at the same rate.
Sales of passenger cars plunged from 2.2 million (production: 2.4 million) in 1989 to 1.5 million (production: 1.6 million) today. Car production could reach 2.9 million units by 2005.
