New Mustang bows in Ford's 'Year of the Car'
"Mustang isand always has beenabout emotion," said Larry Erickson, Mustang Chief Designer, Ford Motor Co. The fifth-generation vehicle is on an all-new platform, and it returns to the classic profile of a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car with a long hood, tight cabin, and short trunk. An extra 6 in (152 mm) was added to the wheelbase for the new model, most of which goes to pushing the front wheels forward to reduce overhang.
