Military wants quiet power, improved efficiency
Transporting fuel to the battlefield typically costs the U.S. Army nearly $600 a gallon. But a new fuel-cell auxiliary power unit (APU) resulting from a partnership between the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command's National Automotive Center, Freightliner, Ballard Power Systems, and the University of Alabama improves the cost equation.
