Compact wheel speed sensor

A miniaturized wheel speed sensor from LucasVarity Automotive Control Systems employs Hall Effect or magnetoresistive technology to determine wheel speed with associated conditioning electronics to generate digital signals. The active micro sensor device is mounted close to the car's wheel bearing seals. It is particularly suitable for applications in which near-zero speed sensing is required, such as traction and vehicle stability control, anti-lock braking, and adaptive cruise control. Other applications could include transmission and engine rotation sensing.
