MGA has developed two airbag-related products. One, the 7-mph velocity actuator, is used to determine whether the sensors, placed in the passenger's compartment, acknowledge that an occupant is out of position, and that they trigger the airbag to shut off. The other, the instrumented offset barrier, is used with existing dynamic crash systems offset deformable barrier testing using a 5th percentile female dummy. This test simulates slow-developing crashes that can propel a smaller driver closer to the airbag before the device is triggered.
