Diesel finds Liberty in North America
At DaimlerChrysler Corp.'s North America Innovation Symposium in November, there was a lot of talk about the automaker's vision of accident-free driving, alternative fuels, and fuel-cell vehicles, but its plans for diesel made the loudest statement. DCX's President and CEO Dieter Zetsche announced at the event that the Chrysler Group would offer a diesel-powered Jeep Liberty in the U.S. and Canadian markets beginning in 2004 to encourage North American acceptance of diesels.
