Johnson Electric pumps flex-fuel

The rotary DC motor was invented in the 19th century, and with it came the first commutator, a rotary switch that manages the distribution of current to the armature coils. Commutators come in two basic types—barrel and flat—both of which serve the same purpose. Motor technology has come a long way since the invention, but the commutator has remained essentially unchanged.
