Tech Briefs The MIRA research center in the UK has re- furbished its emissions laboratory and has added a climatic emissions capability to its climatic wind tunnel (CWT). Combining features of the CWT and gasoline exhaust emissions equipment gives MIRA the capability to carry out -7°C (+19°F) cold start tests to European and U.S. Federal legislative requirements plus the U.S. Federal Air Conditioning Test (SCO3) and the "aggressive driving" test (US06). MIRA will now be able to carry out both hot and cold emissions development work. The ambient test facility will cater to gasoline, diesel, and alternative-fuel vehicles and could provide pre- and post-catalyst emissions measurements and real-time particulate mass analysis.
