Engineering Dynamics Corp. (www.edccorp.com) has introduced Engineering Dynamics Human Impact Simulator (EDHIS). Using the software, researchers focus directly on how injuries occur instead of reconstructing an accident and then inferring how they occurred. Originally developed for the study of seat belts and air bags, EDHIS also has the ability to predict potential injuries. The software uses a 3-D visualization system called Human-Vehicle-Environment (HVE). Because researchers can study more accidents in less time, an increased volume of information is available. This increased volume results in increased understanding of how crash injuries occur.
