Micro-honeycomb material wears out engine noise

A new honeycomb structure composed of many tiny metallic tubes or channels could enable a new type of noise reduction for quieting aircraft engines, providing relief to both airline passengers and communities near airports. Engineers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute have found that honeycomb-like structures can reduce sound more effectively than conventional methods.
